IAEM Certified Emergency Manager

MS Certified Emergency Manager

Certified Paramedic

The Co-founder of STARR after noticing the decline in available training venues for public service agencies. Never running from a problem, decided to make a difference by offering training when needed through a full-time training facility that focused on high quality training. A nationally registered paramedic for nearly 30 years, a certified Public safety Diver, Swift Water Rescue Technician, Rescue Boat Operator, EMS instructor, Adjunct Instructor at several higher institutes of learning just some of the many accomplishments.

After returning from  8 1/2 years of Active Duty in the Marine Corps began working in EMS as a paramedic and later as a Training Officer. Years later when called returned to active duty this time as a combat medic in the Mississippi Army National Guard serving in both Enduring Freedom and Iraq Freedom within Iraq. Taking the knowledge learned during that time, began making positive changes in teaching that improved students educational knowledge. The love for medicine lead to teaching at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Miller-Motte Technical College, but realized more has to be done so began teaching for STARR full time.

Using the training and knowledge, worked with the Office of Emergency Preparedness deploying to several incidents as the Logistic Manager for all EMS assets to transport patients to safety prior to the disaster impact and after the disastrous affects of these federal declared incidents. While working at the OEP, developed changes to enable better deployment of assets and incident command to improve response capabilities. Being able to take educational knowledge and real-world experience has enabled so many positive changes within the training venue as well as deployments.

The term "life long learner" has truly been taken to many levels as the many degrees show. From gaining an AAS in Paramedicine, a BA in Emergency and Disaster Management, then an MA in Emergency and Disaster Management, and a Master in Public Health. Combining real-world experience with educational knowledge always enhances training and increases the level of training because minimal standards only allows minimal efforts.
