What is STARR? The Clark Kent / Superman Approach...
In the forefront, Southern Technical Aquatic Resource and Rescue (STARR) is a recognized Training Site for the American Heart Association, the American Safety and Health Institute, and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. STARR is the premier source for effective, affordable and most importantly professional First Aid, CPR, PreHospital Emergency care and water rescue classes in the area. Training when you need it!
STARR provides a variety of courses such as First Aid, CPR (all levels), Advanced Life Support classes, and other pre-hospital emergency care classes along with Childcare courses. STARR also offers additional courses such as Water Safety for the Individual, Rescue Swimmer, Swift Water Rescue Technician (3 levels), and Emergency Rescue Boat Operator.
In the background, Southern Technical Aquatic Resource and Rescue is always preparing for natural and/or man-made emergencies involving water. During times of emergencies and/or disasters, STARR's Team of Certified Water Rescue professionals comes together, and when requested becomes a force multiplier through our extensive cache of additional water rescue resources to communities impacted by water related events. Our Emergency Mangers are prepared for these types of potential disastrous events. Usually days prior members are contacted, equipment is prepped, and local, State, and Federal agencies are contacted. STARR is able to provide assistance as a force multiplier (not the primary response) to public agencies in order to help save lives.
At STARR, we believe it is not "if" but rather when the next emergency or disaster will happen. This is why STARR continues to promote water rescue and medical training to organizations, businesses, companies, and individuals. Emergencies and Disasters are occurring more frequently, becoming more costly, which is why STARR will keep providing resources to train those who want the knowledge and respond to those who need the help.
So what makes our training so different.....
MOBILE COUNTY EMS Training
STARR provided Mobile County EMS with some outstanding PHTLS Training that worked within their schedule. Over a period of several weeks, all of Mobile County EMS Operations was able to obtain their PTHLS Provider Certification. This included not only hours of didactic's but hours of practical skills training to ensure the information taught was learned, and finally completed with a 50 question written exam to show the objectives and skills were learned. It was a great few weeks and all of our instructors went away with some new educated friends. Here are just a few of the pictures we were able to take during the training event of 2018.
