FIRST ON THE SCENE (FOTS)
First On The Scene - this course was developed by NAEMT and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), and provides instructors with a toolkit to teach the general public basic emergency response to life-threatening emergencies until EMS arrives on the scene. Through lesson presentation and hand-on skill stations, participants will learn how to access help in the event of an life-threatening emergency and what to do until EMS arrives.
AUDIENCE: This course is designed for those who are likely to be first responders in the event of an emergency incident where a person's life is in danger such as Community Responders, Search and Rescue Personnel, Close Protection Operatives, Public Service Agencies.
COURSE CONTENT:
Activating the 911 system
Hands-only CPR and AED
Administering Naloxone (Narcan)
Administering Epinephrine
Responding to Life-Threatening Bleeding
Penetrating Chest Trauma
Moving Patient to Safety
Positioning Injured Patients
COURSE FORMAT: This classroom-based which includes instructor, PowerPoint, and skill interaction throughout the course. This course is approximately 5 hours in length.
